In a pickle is right.....Senegal parrots can only be surgically sexed.

All birds can be sexed by DNA sample - surgery used to be the only way for many species, but it is simply not necessary these days.

i used to work as a veterinary nurse and know that parrots and some small animals have to be put under anaesthesia to find out the sex. as you may be aware there is always a risk when putting animals under anaesthetic.
