eCheques on eBay

I have made a purchase on eBay for �1499.00. I believe I followed the normal purchasing process however my paypal account says that I have paid by eCheque and that it will take 8 days to clear.
I definately have enough money in my bank account to cover the cost so why would it not transfer immediately like other purchases?

Pheew...for that amount of money no way would i pay from my bank account...PP protection only covers up to �500.

PayPal Buyer Protection, you MAY receive protection up to �500.00. emphasis on the MAY.

I'd cancel it and pay with a Credit Card...at least that way if things go wrong you can claim through your CC company.

If you are going to pay with your credit card, don't go through PayPal but pay the company directly with your credit card.

The law (s.172 Consumer Credit Act) requires credit card companies to make good any losses that arise when purchasing goods with the credit card. But the payment MUST be directly to the seller, not a third party such as PayPal.

Some credit cards voluntarily apply a similar protection to PayPal purchases, but not all. So unless you are very sure, do not rely on it before spending big money on eBay.

Seriously ... ethel is right - visa is your friend when buying on the net
paypal is pocket money - visa is for serious purchases (I'd say any single item over �30.00 if possible - because of the extra cover.

check with your card terms to be certain they are "web friendly" ... some aren't ... you get ripped off ... you stand a much bigger chunk of the haul.
barcleycard are "totally committed" (like my aunt ida) to web commerce .... better yet ... they stand the loss
