I have a Brabantia 50 L bin which has just given up the ghost. Is it worth buying one of these new ones with the sensors in the lid which automatically opens when a hand approaches and closes after so many seconds? Or is there just too much to go wrong with these. I know they have a 5 year guarantee.
hi, saw one in a shop on display. every time anyone moved ,it opened and then CLANGED shut. I watched it for ages, was really amused, and thought if I had one in my kitchen it would drive me up the wall. what about if someone comes in really late, and tries to creep around, clang, clang CLANG. sunday morning, trying to have a lie in, clang clang clang CLANG
( the cat pacing up and down waiting to be fed).
no thanks, good old foot pedal for me.
If it's positioned correctly it stays shut until you use it.
They are been sold on ebay for 42, well worth getting as they are more hygienic as you never need to touch it, had mine for 3 years now and still working correctly.
I have purchased one of these recently. They do open if you are near. They can be switched off though. This one is for a food retail shop, we thought it would be more hygenic in the shop but we had to move it out as it kept opening when we walked by. Personally, I wouldn't have one in my home.
