Is testing on animals as cruel as fox hunting

Is testing on animals next to be banned following the imminent changes on fox hunting. Is it a cruel and unnecessary piece of legislation or is it any thing to help forward medical science?

cheers dear! I used to work in animal testing until I left to give birth and decided to be a full time mum. To be blunt, I wouldn't dream of giving a medicine to my baby that hadn't been tested on animals. Re the company pulling out...not sure. I know that one of the Unis did want to be informed of any protests by animal rights activisits that was in their area...think this may be related to the story you're talking about. Will try to find out. xx

To Jills Apart from the testing on animals for human medical furthering which seems to be a regrettable consequence of our self absorbed species, do you not think there is something fundamentally paradoxical about testing on animals to further vetinary science!?

So are you one of these sanctamonius people who live in a hut in Mid Wales, or do you live in the real world using electricity, using shops, using any form of powered transport, eating prepackaged meals, wearing leather clothes/shoes, eating meat, being born in a hospital, having routine operations, taking medicines etc etc

Yes Fox hunting can be used for enjoyment, but thats not half as bad as medical testing on animals. Every year, nearly 100 million animals die in research laboratories at the hands of curious scientists who perform outdated and inaccurate tests that prove no benefit to humans or animals. Before these animals die, they are routinely burned, scalded, poisoned, starved, given electric shocks, addicted to drugs, subjected to near freezing temperatures, dosed with radioactive elements, driven insane, deliberately inflicted with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, oral infections, stomach ulcers, Syphilis, herpes, and AIDS. Their eyes are surgically removed; their brains and spinal cords damaged, and their bones broken. The usage of anesthesia is not mandated by law, and consequently, thus is rarely administered. Despite all of this cruelty, not a single disease has been cured yet.
