Vauxhall Astra R Reg, gearbox fault

I have a Vauxhall astra, R reg and there seems to be a problem with the gearbox. It seems that the gears are sliping but is fine when it changes into 3rd and 4th.

Hubby has checked and changed the tranmission fluid but the problem still seems to be there.

Hubby has thought that maybe the bands may be lose but cant seem to find the location as the gearbox looks as if it has been reconditioned.

Hubby is a mechanic and this fault has even puzzled him.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou all for your responses, but the problem is now solved.

Believe it or not the hubby changed all the fuses and the car is now working fine.

I know, this has confused the hubby too.
