copying to blank dvd-r

When I copy films onto blank dvd-r a lot of the time they are not copied properly and the disc wont play or it stops at some point in the film. Is this because I am using poor quality discs? If so can someone recommend me good ones?

You don't say if you are using a computer or stand alone DVD recorder/player. But if using the later I find that most discs will play better on cheap players than the expensive stuff.

Treat - and + like VHS and Betamax. - DVD's or DVD-R/DVD-RW are compatible on more dvd players and recorders. To copy a film (remember that this is illegal) you need 2 bits of software: -
DVD Shrink (Free) and Nero (Have to buy or download an illgal copy from bittorrent). DVD Shrink scans and compresses the film to fit onto a 4.7GB disc, and nero burn the files onto the disc. thats it. very simple.

Try not to go too cheap on discs as you will notice that some out of the pack will burn with errors. I bought 50 discs for 11 at a pc fair and a high percentage were faulty. Try and buy named ones. HMV do 23 x Maxwell discs for 7.99
