Changed their minds?
40 Answers
Hello All,
I haven't been on here in weeks but lately everyone (in 3D world) has been talking about Madelaine Mcann and the fact that her parents are now suspects.
It got me thinking back to when she first went missing and a few people on AB (Me included), got slated for saying there was something odd about her parents and they way they were acting/dealing with the situation.
I just wondered if anyone has changed their opinions now and if they are starting to think the same or if they still stand firm that this is just a normal case of 'child gets abducted'?

That's your opinion and if you want to believe they are innocent then thats fine. If they get proved innocent I will hardly hang my head in shame.. I will just take comfort in the fact that my naivity doesn't always get the better of me.
KP - I think the weirdest thing is that two people who are meant to be 'well thought of' would stupidly leave a child alone. That's what it all boils down to. You wouldn't do it at home while you nip to the shops so why do it on holiday.
I'm off to lunch.

I agree john nobody does know for sure one way or the other and to be honest I dont think we ever will for sure.
Of course my heart goes out for them both but whatever happens one way or the other I think there will always be that element of doubt in everybodies minds and ruby what you just said sums it up really.
You would not leave children of that age on there own here but to me being abroad and doing that makes it even worse.

They weren't just under 14yrs.. they were under 6yrs!
If two parents in the UK, went out for dinner and left their kids alone like they did and the kids had done something like burnt the house down, it would be tragic but everyone would be blaming those parents! At the end of the day, whether Madelaine had been taken or not, what they did was irresponsible and they will live with that for the rest of their lives and I don't feel sorry for them for that. It is one thing to leave a child playing in the garden or upstairs while you nip out to your car or something and accidents happen, like you may get locked out and panic... but to go somewhere for dinner and leave them alone! Shocking!

Yes, irresponsible and no doubt they will be feeling the pain of that decision for the rest of their lives. But that was a mistake they made, and they are not the only parents guilty of this mistake. They were perhaps just unlucky that in this unique instance something went terribly wrong.
Whilst we can say they were terrible for leaving their children alone, you have to have some pity for the lesson they have learnt, and the child who paid that price.

A friend of mine lived in an apartment block but on the ground floor and not far from the main door to the building. She needed to nip out to her car and she didn't want to leave the kids so she took them with her... (the car was about 50ft from the main door, if that) and while she was there, she became locked out and her hand bag was near the cooker top and the kids had been playing with the knobs on the cooker. The kitchen caught fire but neither her or her kids were in the house when it happened. If she had left them on their own... they could have been seriously harmed!
Exactly Octavius... They weren't the first set of parents to make this mistake, which means they know this stuff happens and where your children are concerned, you can't afford to learn from your own mistakes! We don't live in that kind of world where you can let your kids roam free and hope for the best and then when something bad happens say 'well I've learnt my lesson'! It was a lesson that only the most idiotic of people wouldn't have already learnt!
I'm now confused by the McCann investigation and wonder why they left it so long to investigate them both. If this happened in Britain they always suspect the family and close relatives first. They children should never of been left alone, the parents are in the wrong and have to live with the decision they made.
The media have turned all their attention to it as the story is now so big that its taking over politics, war and other top stories. Everyone is talking about it, radio, telly, neighbours, people in queues at shops and at bus stops and train stations. People are just wanting to know the truth and try and find out where poor little Madeleine is.

I still don't know. (!) But why don't they give them a truth drug, it's been used before. It may not be totally acceptable these days but it used to be. Or get a good hypnotist to regress them and find out something, anything!
But I can't see how anyone can do anything like this and assume or think they will get away with it, how would they live with themselves plus if they did, they are in deeper doggie doo doos than ever before now! Surely they would look completely haggered if they did it, but they still look relatively normal? I hope for their sake they aren't hiding anything.

Eyeshade - The regression thing wouldn't work. I have had that done before and if anything it makes you become more aware of what you are saying and you don't have to worry about body language like when you tell a real lie because you are laying down with your eyes shut! You are fully awake but feel fully asleep. It's so weird but you know exactly what you are saying and doing.

you're right legend but social services hardly have a good track record keeping an eye on *families at risk* any other time.
That's another thing that just doesn't add up, if someone has taken Madelaine, why only her and not the twins, is it to make it look like a made to order snatch . Things just don't seem to be looking good for the McCanns. There are far too many discrepancies in this case that need answered quickly.

I have not changed my mind since day 1.
i believe that the Mc Canns are involved with the disapperance of maddie, i do not do ''gut feeling'' as a rule, but things are just not adding up with these two.
They became ''suspects'' from day in my eyes, there was something cold about them, they were miles ''to cool'' for my liking, and you can bet your bottom dollar that someone from the portugese police felt likewise.

I still have no opinion either way.
What does concern me though is the police have stopped looking - my friend was on holiday in Greece with her Mother and they were convinced they saw a couple acting very oddly with a subdued child who looked just like Maddie - they were not the only people who thought so, she took a picture and as soon as she got home she sent picture and statement to police and the Find Maddie website, despite contacting them repeatedly since then not one person has bothered to contact her to follow it up.

News has announced that they have been met by social services today, but it is usual for this to happen as parents of a child who is missing according to the news.
I expect they are going through hell.... if they are innocent, this must be awful. I think taking the twins would be the last straw, how much more can they take?
