Prince of Persia 2 PS2

I need some help!! I have killed the green monster (big) and I have now become the black monster. There is a building on fire, i've got to rescue the people. i have come to the part where I jump off a platform and lash out my chain, and swing twice. Then the eye icon turns up in the corner and by the time I have clicked on the eye icon, I have hit a wall and fallen down and died. What do I do? I have even tried using slow down mode to see if that would help but I can't see where I have to grab or anything, I cant see anything. Please can someone help me, it's driving me mad!!!
