My wife and I, both in our sixties, care for our 102 year-old Mum. Our first break for 7 years will be from 21 November for 2 weeks. We need peace and quiet, sunshine, good hotel just to rest and re-charge. Suggestions are Cyprus, Egypt or Canaries. Any suggestions please. We cannot fly too far just in case we have to get home urgently. Thanks. Jen and Dave.

Have a look at Maderia - You won't get loads of youngsters, the weather should be warm and there are lots of cafes restaraunts, you can hire a car and explore the island. There is plenty to do although no beaches. We loved it.
Midsomer!
canaries
I'd definately plump for the Canaries, probably guaranteed the better weather. Egypt always looks a little rough around the edges for our liking; Cyprus is nice but weather might be a little hit-and-miss in November. Should try Fuerteventura for peace and quiet, sunshine and decent hotels.
We are off to Egypt but mostly to Snorkel but you are sure to have sun ( two days rain per year ) and if you search for your hotel you can find what you want
First time to Egypt for us but cannot wait if you're interested I have a link for our hotel
what am I saying here it is :-

Madeira I would go for, nice restaurants, friendly people, no rowdies, hire a car and explore the island slowly, some parts are very different to others, visit the botanical gardens too and try the local dishes, dont forget the "sleigh" ride in the traditional wicker basket, great fun. Leisurely strolls in the evening and all those lovely wild flowers growing everywhere, we even saw orchids growing on the side of the road.
If I ever win the lottery I would definately retire there and I am a bit of a globe trotter, seen most of the world.
have a good break wherever you choose, but Egypt would be my last on the list choice.Cyprus would be no2 after Madeira.
