What is it aboput Sundays that makes us want to eat a roast? And what is it about Saturdays that makes us want to eat pizza or other takeaways? Is it just that we need convenience food when we are off out at the weekend, or is there more to it? Is it carried over from childhood- or did you not have these "routine" meals when you were growing up?

Personally I do a roast occasionally on Sundays (for lunch obviously) but have no predisposition to takeaways/pizza on Saturdays or any other other day for that matter.
Growing up we always had a roast dinner on a Sunday .I like nothing better than a Sunday roast but you need a lot of people round the table to make it a real occasion. We have a roast now and again if we have family round and it's very enjoyable and I always used to do a Sunday roast when the kids were at home but for the two of now it's not really worth the time or the effort especially in the summer when you can have nice salady stuff.
As for Pizza ....I'm afraid I cannot stand the stuff .Not too keen on takeaways either !

I think it's just that we're creatures of habit.
I love Saturday nights in with a few beers and a take-away of some sort.
I roast a nice big lump of meat every Sunday if I can, and if I don't, I feel like it wasn't a proper Sunday!
I didn't really have roasts much when I was growing up so it's not carried over from childhood, it's just that I love them!
Oh and I live on my own but I still do them (so I don't have to share!!)
But I do really enjoy the rare occasions I get to cook for someone, especially a roast.
