Can anyone confirm or deny the story that the Edge from U2 is so named because of the initials of his full name... Edward Dafydd Goronwy Edwards?

Looks like it's not true - not least because his real name is actually David Howell Evans. "The nickname [given him by Bono] was inspired in the beginning by the sharp features of his face, but it also applied to his sharp mind and the way he always observes things from the edge" [Source: http://www.atu2.com/band/edge/ ]
