Kazaa is another established free fileshare programme which you can search Google for. With Kazaa you type in the name of song or artist and click search. You will be in effect trawling through every other Kazaa users computer to see if your music can be found. When it is, double-click and it copies to your computer. Best with Broadband, a single can take half an hour to download on dial up, sometimes more. So I hear. This search/download stuff goes into a dedicated "Shared Folder". When other Kazaa people look, your shared folder will be open to them to copy files from. So I'm told.

Be aware it can be illegal to swap many music files and software, and some of the big boys are whacking the odd small user with big fines having taken them to Court to make an example of them! The downside of filesharing (apart from risking a �5000 fine) is that it can let dodgy spy programmes in to your PC, usually to spam you or monitor what you do to target ads etc but could be more nasty virus etc. If you download a file called "Prodigy - Firestarter" from unknown person, you don't know if that's what you are getting til it's too late. But 99% of the time its OK. Allegedly.

I know it's an old thread but...

Watch out with Limewire and Grokster as they have Trojan virus attached to it, which is downloaded with the software. Check your system for W32.DlDer.Trojan.

Most P2P networks have tracking cookies on them now and are being monitored. Also a lot of the material is watermarked so is easier to trace.
