For your information codger66, Iraq and Afghanistan are muslim countries so no need to be hypothetical. I imagine the Ministry of Defence would not deploy any soldiers from those countries in their country of origin. Makes sense really.
But feel free to unleash more uninformed racist twaddle...

I don't need that kind of information Gromit, I know very well that afghanistan and iraq are muslim countries, and so is Iran for your information, I merely used Pakistan as an example if you read the question properly, and furthermore the question was not racist, uninformed twaddle maybe, but thats why I asked the question in the first place.
It would only arise if we had a conscripted army and Pakistani people found themselves in an army they didn't want to be in. Thankfully that is not the case. Everyone who joins up willingly does so with the knowledge that they could be sent to the middle east.
Have you heard of any British soldiers of Iraqi or Afghan extraction being interned or becoming objectors in the present conflicts?
Apart from anything, it would be deemed a security risk.
Your question sounds suspiciously similar to the Norman Tebbitt cricket test of nationality and loyalty.

In the 2nd world war germans were locked up. It would be difficult now. How would we identify which ones are british and which are against us. There would be so many we couldnt cope. I have seen the way they execute people in some of those countries and some of us might end up like that if we werent careful. But we are not at war
Yes we are...
As people have said, this is an issue which only comes up in the case of conscription (which causes so many problems anyway its unlikely to ever be re-introduced exempting a real emergency). We're currently at war with 2 Islamic states, and there's been no real issue.
Mind you, I think there'd be widespread discontent among white Britons as well as coloured if we did go to war with (another) muslim state.

That's the point i'm geting at Neil, in the second war there were only few thousand germans here, in fact my late father was guard at a camp where some germans were interned,it was a job he could do as he was too old to do active service,in fact he fought in the first war,but there again religion was not an issue, in fact germans are Christian as are most of us, he actually made many friends in that job,
but as you say the figures are different now, and the task would be an impossible one.

If the Iraqi government introduced a call up and any of their citizens were living in the UK we should send them back to protect the country. Then maybe British forces can return to UK.
The Iraq war was partly started by ex-Iraquis living in London saying that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction so mis-leading Blair.

The Japanese have honour that's a laugh storm17.
As I have pointed out in another post, If you read Max Hastings book Nemesis : The Battle for Japan 1944-5, on the treatment the Japanese gave out to their prisoners during the second world war, it will explain what happened only 60 odd years ago.
Then there was slavery, cramped slave ships, beatings, beheadings, starvation, lack of medical care, to name just a few of the inhuman treatment dished out by these savagers. Yet still no opologises from the Japanese.
