what to wear when ure older
Consider myself reasonably trendy, can get into the mindset of wearing trackies and jogging bottoms due to my job, but i am going out find it really difficult, hope that the smock fashion is finished soon its ok if you are massive, pregnant or young, wore that stuff in the seventies, but some of the patterns are sooooo bold thats a under statement, these bad boys will be in the charity shops by next year, anyway really struggle to look trendy and not mutton dressed as lamb when i go out any other abers got this problem!

I've never pandered to fashion trends, partly because I'd hate to be a sheep and partly because I know what suits me and I stick to it. For example, bootcut trousers & jeans suit me. If I wore wide leg trousers I'd look like a bloke in drag, and if I wore skinny jeans I'd look like Max Wall. I always wear high heeled shoes/boots with pointy toes. Round toed shoes remind me of the ones my granny used to wear.
I've told Mr O to shoot me if I ever buy anything in beige or with an elasticated waistband. I buy a lot of my stuff from the Per Una range at M&S and I love stuff from Wallis.
I think you have to be honest about your figure and what suits you, and to hell with fashion. I had the ultimate compliment the other week from my teenage daughter who told me I always look cool, and she frequently borrows my tops/bags/makeup.
(I'm 51 by the way.)

hi mrs overall you sound similar to me, i like you love boot cut trousers, have long legs so they are always good on me, sometime i struggle with the length but got some great stretchy brown ones for a tenner at matalan, you are right the smocky tops are not for us, my arms arent as toned as they once were, trying to work out in that area,i love a classic the little black dress, but not so confident with that anymore, the old tummy is sagging more than ever, but got the old magic pants lets see what they can do!, i like the pointy shoe especially wearing trousers, and as for beige dont go there, i am about a size 14/16 depending on what brand i choose, try to keep fit so i dont look overweight iam nearly 5ft 7ins, and i am just gone 53, we are the new 40!!!!
