Fast car, cheap insurance

im 19 years old and fancy a new car, i was wandering what is the fastest car for cheap insurance, id prefer a hatchback, im thinking fiesta xr2i or clio 16v? ideas please. Thanks

Anything 'fast' is going to be expensive to insure at your age unfortunately. What car have you got at the minute? I'd stick with something with a smaller engine and cheaper to insure until you are at least 21, and then look at changing. At least then you will have a few years no claims, making the insurance a bit more affordable and maybe then look for a faster car.

at the moment i have a 1.6 16v fiesta si, which ive had for 2 years now with 2 years no claims.

your very lucky indeed that an insurer is willing to cover you a on relatively sporty car anyway , even a basic 1.3 is a insurance no - no for most drivers of your age

I'd go for a clean Clio 16v, my B/F has a Williams, awesome cars!

Just run a load of quotes on tinternet on different cars, see which is the cheapest?

Get yourself a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo

Why??

Because they are only a 1.3 engine and some insurers class them as a group 10 but heres the beauty of them, they have more torque than a Porsche 911 size / weight ratio, standard they do 0-60 in 6.1 secs, with a few minor mods, dump valve / hks filter 5.5 secs or less.

Not only that, they come fully loaded as standard, aircon all electrics etc, in the 11 years i have driven these none have ever gone wrong, even after severe abuse, unlike my Skyline ( �4000 bill in last 2 months)

Add to that if you drive sensibly you really can get up to 40mpg if you dont get bored by then... Tax is only �110 yearly, and heres the best bit you can buy for as little as �1000, for someone your age its a no brainer
