Does anyone know if movies downloaded from uTorrent can be burned directly onto a blank dvd disc? I'd like to save the movies I've seen already, but also want to free up space on my hard drive. I think the movies I've downloaded have also slowed down my virtual memory, but that could just be my imagination. Is it difficult to burn downloaded movies onto dvd discs, and if not, which blank discs should I buy: rewritable ones or what?

I have downloaded items and then used Nero to burn them to disc using the make dvd feature. This has converted the files to a type compatible with DVD players.
For a freebie DVDFlick converts most types to DVD creates the iso and incorprates IMGBurn for burning.

Thanks Pauln. Your answer sounds less complicated than Mac70's answer about ISO and other stuff I don't understand. I do have the Nero software already loaded on my system, so I'll try that and see if it works. One more thing, though. Do I use rewritable blank dvd's or recordable blank dvd's?
theres only one way to learn and thats to try it for yourself.
nero is reasonably simple to follow
Which type of disc you use depends on whether you want to keep the DVD you produce for a long time in which case a normal blank DVD-R or DVD+R ,whichever your player accepts, will do.

If you will only keep the reording for a short time then record to DVD-RW or DVD+RW again depending on which format your player accepts
we have all learnt something here today
dont use nero to convert your avi files nero is way to slow and sometimes should your pc use cpu resources on another programme your film can loose sinc with pic and sound giving a badly dubbed copy take it from an expert if your using torrents then look up a programme called winavi it will convert your newly downloaded films to dvd in about 30 mins or so depending on your pc then use nero express to burn them i do this for a hobby so trust what i say oh and dvds can be burned on any dvd+ or minus depending on the rewriter mines accepts both somehow minus ones are preferred by ps2 if you do games and + is loved by most dvd players you can also get kvcd films which are great coz they go directly on to cd a full hard drive will slow your pc down so i suggest you get another and install as a slave you can store every thing on there without it slowing pc down

macspeedy,

Thanks for the helpful and very detailed response. Although some of it still sounds too technical for me, I am totally willing to try new things and learn from them. I just don't want to do something new that will mess up my system. I also had the idea that I should just buy an external hard drive and store all of my p2p downloads on that, so your suggestion is timely. I will also be cautious about using Nero. Nevertheless, I do appreciate all of the helpful responses I always get on this site. Thanks!
