Can you think of a good birthday party for a 13 year old girl? We don't want anything like a cinema trip, disco, pizza hut e.t.c. We want it in the house and we want something different

Home made lotions and potions and face masks http://beauty.about.com/od/skinflaws/a/facemas ks.htm , cucumber slices for covering your eyes and spa supplies - see above link.
Games include one guest stepping out of the room, all the girls hide inside different sleeping bags, then the person has to re-enter the room and figure out which guests are in which sleeping bags. Push the bags closer together to make it more difficult. You can also play "where's my papa" where one girl also leaves the room, the others find a spot in the room and close their eyes tightly. When they are ready, the girl re-enters the room as quietly as possible, and someone has to yell Where's my papa, if they hear the person make a sound. Bit like blind mans buff?
For invitations, use felt and attach a sheet of note paper as your invitation inside. Roll the felt up like a sleeping bag and tie it with embroidery thread as a cute invitation.
Try to get mini marshmallows in another persons mouth - the one with the most on target wins

A Make Over party. If you look in your local paper you will im sure file a company that provide make over parties for young girls. They bring all the make-up, hair styling products etc and they give all the girls make overs.
You as a parent can advise how far you wish them to go and what tpye of make up styles you would be happy with!
Good luck with whatever you decide :-)

Last year we did the home beauty salon thing - didn't bother with paying for someone else to come in. Decided money was better spent on make up itself that would last beyond the day . We set up a table of nail polishes, another with hair accessories , mousse etc and another for the make up table and they took turns to makeover each other.
Chocolate Game - take a large bar of chocolate out of the fridge and put in middle of table with a knife & fork. Put hat, gloves & scarf on table to. Everyone takes turns to throw a die, if you get a 6 you put on the clothes & get stuck in with knife & fork while the others frantically throw dice - when next person gets 6 they have to put on clothes and can eat some choc.
