Manhattan is one of the most exciting, bustling, romantic and fun cities to visit during the Christmas season in the world! Yes indeed, it can become colder than Prince Charles there, but thats part of the magic!
Not only did I live in Manhattan for a few years, Ive spent much of my life escorting private groups to destinations including New York. If I may offer a few suggestions and please accept that I dont know your budget. Find a room that overlooks Central Parkthat would be either the: Ritz Carlton, The Park Lane (last choice in my book..if yu want to know, write me), The Essex House, Sherry Netherland, or the Pierre.( Sadly, Ive had to omit the once famous Plaza Hotel).
The Empire State Building is open until Midnight. Go at nightagain romantic..and again cold, but it makes reasons to have hot chocolate or more at night. Theatre at Times Square, or try something off off Broadway!
Most romantic and the best value in the world the Staten Island Ferry at night! Ride to Staten Island . Be sure to stand in aft of the ferry to watch Manhattans lights shrink away and then go to the port side to see lady liberty as you pass her. Theres some irony in the words printed on her base now Give me your tired your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
From your hotel at the corner of Central Park South and Fifth Avenue, head south along 5th Avenue.. You have Bergdorf Goodmans, Tiffany & Co,. the Trump Tower, Cartier, Rockefeller Centre where you can ice skate beneath Prometheus and admire the great tree. Continue on shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue and keep working south down to 32nd, then cross over to Macys.
