(Don't forget the 360 Elite is out now - not sure if its technically better than PS3 - anyone know?)
are you upgrading your dvd collection to blu-ray? if so then ps3 would be a cheaper option than a 360 and blu-ray player. They are both good systems and few games now are exclusive to that console.

Rinow I have both of the consoles and honestly because I bought my xbox first I have a slight preference to that, but only as I havent used my ps3 much yet. I do think the ps3 has slightly better graphics and the blu- ray function is worth the extra bit of money as stand alone blu ray players are close to a grand. Also the ps3 has lots more features like you can put pictures on it from digital cameras through the memory cards and loads of other little bits like that. But if you're going to get either you have to get a HD tv it makes the difference trust me. Oh sneaky trick, to reduce the price of the ps3 or xbox for that, if you know a student get it from virgin megastores as student discount is available on consoles there but is not anywhere else. Hope I've helped
