Quick! Interview Q's
2 Answers
Hi all, I'll be interviewig people throughout today for a small office assistant job. Originally it was going to be my boss interviewing and me just assisting, but my boss decided he wasn't int he mood and now I'm on my own.
I have absolutely no idea what to ask them, anyone got any good general questions?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Golden rules: ask open questions and let the candidate do 70% of the talking. Open questions are ones where the answer is not just yes or no. So rather than saying can you type? say what experience do you have of typing?.
You might think about things like:
What experience do you have of working in a small office environment?
What make you think youd like to work here?
Tell me about your experience of working with Word/Excel/Powerpoint etc. What are you most proud of being able to create in these packages?
Tell me about a time when youve dealt with a difficult caller?
Give me an example of how youve worked with members of a team to achieve something that looked impossible.
And remember to ask if they have questions!
The usual format I would use is:
Welcome
Say a bit about the company, what the job is and give a brief overview (no more than 5 mins)
Ask candidate questions as above (20-30 mins)
Ask candidate if they have questions
Close giving clear indication of what happens next, timescales etc
Hope this helps
