Tonight I was on my way home from work, waiting for public transport - it was raining and someone who was stood close by with a golfing umbrella asked me if i'd like to join them to keep out of the rain.

The person didn't want anything, it was just a nice thing to do....what has (if anything) restored your faith in human nature lately?

Oh and I forgot to add I was feeling all nice and cheerful because of that and then in turn gave my newspaper to someone who wanted to read one. :)
Beads, it was a pleasure having you stand so close to me, and my friend enjoyed the crossword puzzle in the newspaper.
It was probably the old "keep out of the rain" line whilst they rummage about in your pockets...

ha ha Stewey...I know that's a fib because it was two separate strangers and the other guy didn't do the crossword ;)
Ah, Beads that's really lovely. People can be so selfish, but on the other side of the coin are lovely people like those you encountered, who of course encouraged you to pass on your own loveliness.

Haven't had any fab encounters recently, except when I was working Friday night, and met some young people who I hadn't worked with before, and who were lovely.

When I walk my dog, I meet some lovely fellow dog owners, and they always make me smile :)
My Grandad always used to say 'If you see a man without a smile, give him yours' and I've always tried to do just that. Not quite the same but small efforts go a long way, as do good manners.

he he soz cazzz..I went into over explanatory mode! :)
You should have shot him. It's possible you didn't have a gun, but learn from this. If someone asks me 'Excuse me, do you have the time' I shoot them. It is the only way to stay safe.
I prefer to mace people that ask questions like that bodylice....

have you been watching Dog the Bounty Hunter Cazzz? :)
That's sweet Beads , reminds me of a childrens book my son used to like me reading to him when he was a toddler , 2 mice in bad weather and of-course they end up sharing one umbrella. :-) x
A chap trod on my toe in a pub recently, said sorry then dissappeared.5 mins later he came back with a drink for me.Turned out to be the landlord.
A few weeks ago on a hot day me and my 4 yr old son were in a petrol station buying an ice cream each, i only had a couple of quid on me and thought i had enough for 1 each, when i went to pay i was about 40p short so i said i'd put mine back. A bloke behind me said dont worry i'll buy them for you! I told him thanks but not to worry, but he insisted, so i let him. He didnt even want the money i had. It was just genuine kindness and made me feel very happy for the rest of the day!
Its the little things that make a big difference, i was at the petrol station the other day and i saw someone waiting behind me so before going to pay i moved the car forward a bit so they could get to pump. I was surprised how grateful they couple in the car were, saying that no-one ever does that and it was so nice of me! Everyone feels happy!

My other half did something the other day.He was walking to the train station when a guy,who was standing next to his car, asked Mr HK if he could change a tenner for parking. He didnt want to leave his car cos the warden was about.Mr HK took the tenner into a pub and changed it for him. He`s got a very honest face.
Maybe it was one of Danny Wallace's followers performing a random act of kindness http://www.join-me.co.uk/
Or as cazzz1975 said, maybe you were pick-pocketed. Still got your mobile? ;)
I try to have that "Pay it Foward" attitude. Sometimes it is hard, but as you all shared it does feel nice to do nice things for others.
...I'm a big believer in karma,

today a customer where I work was looking for a copy of Dolly Parton's 9-5 (her daughter wanted for school....I have no idea why????).... anyway we didn't have it on any compelation , so I suggested she download it from the internet, she said she had no access to a PC.... so tonight I have downloaded it, and copied it onto a disc for her...it took me less than 5 mins....

....if I'm leaving a pay and display car park early I always give my ticket to somebody who's just arrived.....

... a young lad who was soaked through , lost, friends deserted him, had lost his mobile and wallet after a local music festival was walking along the road at 8am on a sunday morning, I stopped and drove him 10 miles home to his very gratefull mother....
