watching sky news today i was shocked to hear a policemans testimony.
he said "i pointed him out on the train and said thats him .he got up so i grabbed his arms by his side and tried to make him sit down .
then two armed policemen rushed up to us and put their glocks to his head and shot him point blank in the head 7 times.
they then dragged me up the carraige as i screamed at them that i waas a police officer"
im sorry but this seems on a police officers evidence toy be a case of someone going too far .
do you really need to shoot a guy in the head 7 times?
even if hes a terrorist.
which this poor guy wasnt.
i think the police should be charged for killing this poor man .

The Crown Prosecution Service has already announced that their will be NO charges against any individual involved in the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. The Police face charges under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 for "failing to provide for the health, safety and welfare of Jean Charles de Menezes".
The Crown Prosecution Service reached its decision not to prosecute individuals on the grounds of insufficient evidence, which seems to conflict with the evidence we are hearing now.

Whether they shot him 7 times in the head or once is a little irrelevant I feel.
There are some good questions that have still not been properly answered as to why the mistake was made but in the end mistakes are made and people get hurt or killed.
What is absolutely unforgivable is the state of affairs where the Police lie to the public about vaulting barriers and wearing thick coats, and no disciplinary action is taken.
If you or I were to lie to the Police in order to try to cover up some mistake we made we'd be facing a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
instead the Police as a body are fbeing charged with breaching health and safety!
Then what? A stiff fine? who will pay that?
Has the stupidity of fining a public body with responsibility for public safety passed everyone by?
It's PCs gone mad

My first thoughts when I heard about this incident shortly after it happened, were that if he was not here illegally he would not have needed to run, and this would not have happened. But he did not deserve this. Even given how jumpy everybody including the police were at the time because of the previous bombings, it still beggars belief . If they thought he could be a suicide bomber, why the hell did they allow him to board that train? And if they could get close enough to him to shoot him at point blank range , then they could have used a stun gun, they did not need to kill him. There are some serious questions to answer here. How unfortunate for them that they cannot cover up their mistakes behind archaic secrecy laws like the Portugese Police can when they foul up.
For the love of f___...
Everytime this bl**dy question comes up some is guaranteed comes on and say 'he ran away from the police' or 'he vaulted the gates' or some other bit of utter b*ll*cks that has been completely disproved since about three days after the thing happened.
Please for the love of all that is good on the earth, read some goddamn facts about the case before pontificating.

This thing about him being here illegally is a red herring. He wasn't here illegally.
But you're right...it's irrelevant. The police lied through their teeth following the shooting.
In fact, in the following days/weeks, I remember the right wing press trotting out a whole series of nasty stories "from police sources".
Do you remember the one where they said he was a suspect in a rape case? Turned out of course, he wasn't.
Nasty, very nasty.

Hmmm, the fact is , he was a suspected terrorist. not only that, but he was suspected of being a suicide bomber also.
Whether he was innocent of no crimes is to debate, but the police carried out an operation on the beliefs that they were dealing with a suspected suicide bomber.
They need to take these guys out as swift as possible.
I heard someone mention using a stun gun to take him out, but this would have been unrealistic.
If he had turned out to be what they expected, they would have all been heroes.
I agree they shouldnt cover up, but they should still be allowed to keep certain info secret as a matter of national security.
My sympathy's to his family...

you cant use stun weaponry on a suspected suicide bomber ( i assume your thinking of tasers here)
the high voltage delivered would most probably set the device off
im not commenting on the abliet strong possobilty of a cover up
im just commenting on a technicality here
and also i would agree that if 7 shots were delivered there somethnig fishy going off
armed response are trained to give a "lethal 3"...that 3 rounds delived in quick succesiion.......then a delay to evaluate if tatgets been downed.....and then another 3 if needed
7 shots sounds very suspect
i would however say that the individual armed response officer should not be blamed....they are trained to point and take down who they are told to..if they ask questions they may miss there chance
we need to found out who gave the green light for firing..that where the buck should stop

At least the police here will be held accountable for any wrongdoing.
Seems I got my facts wrong. But thats what happens if you believe what you read in newspapers. Sounds familiar.
Cant be easy being an armed policeman. One mistake and an innocent person ends up dead. And you are right - to cover it up by misleading the public is very wrong .
