Would you recommend your washing machine?

My washing machine is on the blink and I need to purchase a new one. Do any of you out there have a really good washing machine you would recommend? Something not too pricey and where I could possibly purchase it online? I would also be interested to hear in any deals where they will plumb in new machine and take away your old one? Thanks in advance.

I have a whirlpool and it is excellent - I do at least one wash a day and I have had it for 5 years with no bother at all. I don't think they are that cheap, but buying cheap is a false economy!

I would always go for the most basic model of the best quality manufacturer you can. There is less to go wrong.

I think Argos do a plumbing in and take away service.

When my last machine broke I asked my tusty repair man what machine he would recommend and he said a Bosch so that's what I had, it's great had it 4 years never gone wrong.

i have a 16 month old integrated indesit WM12x from B&Q which i bought with matching tumble dryer, and it has been fine up to last week when it started making a loud banging noise grrrrrrr

Hi Miz I have had an AEG for eighteen years. Never broke down or gone wrong.Iv asked for it now, saying that watch some thing happen lol.

Had 10 years out of the last Bosch, 12 from the one before.
Now just replaced with a Miele. Rather expensive (over �600) but these things are guaranteed for 5 yrs.

Taking away the old one.
Most retailers will take the old one away for about �15-�20 extra. However some councils will pick the things up from your doorstep for free - given a few days notice. It depends on the local authority - its what your Council Tax goes towards.

I agree with garner, AEG for me. I bought it at least 10 years ago and had no trouble at all. The bloke at Comet told me that you get wot you pay for and that AEG use good quality components. I agree with other posters that cheap is not necessarily a good way to go for white goods.

Sorry oldmegan but AEG are not the company they used to be. They are now owned by Electrolux or someone anyway. The only german engineered machines on the market now are Miele. I had an AEG for 15 years, my Mother in Law had one for 20 years but when I changed my machine a couple of years ago I bought a Miele. Yes, it was slightly more expensive than some machines, but I did get 10 years guarantee, with all parts and labour thrown in! They guarantee to carry the parts for 20 years and reckon that the life of a machine is 25 years. I would heartily recommend one. BTW I bought my from John Lewis and yes, they plumbed it in and took the old one away. I would recommend John Lewis for any electrical items, they are so knowledgeable about the products and their service is great. Never Knowing Undersold!

Always had a hoover electron and have had three in about twenty years. When I had my first one I was shown how to mend it by the repair man and never forgot it. Only two things that go wrong either the pump or the motor and you can tell which it is. Take the thing off, take it to local shop, get another and it will last a few years more.

Also a good bit of advise is only buy the machine with the fewest amount of lights, buttons and dials on. The more you have the more chance there is of an electrical fault which can prove to be very expensive.

I have had a Bosch for eight years now .Touch wood it is still going strong . Never had any problems .
If and when the old Bosch pops it's clogs and if I haven't popped mine I shall buy a Miele . My mum in law has one and it is still going strong after twenty years ! In fact mum in law is 88 so I may inherit it but I hope not ....not just yet anyway !

Indesit used to be great but now they're rubbish (my first one lasted 12 years the second one 18 months!) I now have a Bosch and it';s great so far

I have a whirlpool toploader. It's my second, the first one lasted 14 years with heavy use. The tub is bigger than a front loader and I can manage to get a kingsize (summer)duvet in mine.

I have a hotpoint. I swore I would never have a hotpoint as I had heard from friends that they were unreliable. I have had mine for over 4 years and it is excellent with no problems at all. I only went for a hotpoint because the model was being replaced and it was cheap.

I would never buy any white goods again.....I rent from forbes direct (online). I have a top quality washer for �17 per month and if it goes wrong they fix the same day!

Hi all, I've decided to purchase a Beko WMA641S washing machine. To be honest the decision to buy this one was heavily influenced on the fact that it was in my home shopping catalogue - and since I can't really afford at this moment in time to part with cash, I decided to take the leap. I realise however that no doubt I will be paying practically double than if I had purchased this item with cash online (ba!) I also had a peek at the reviews for this washing machine on the 'Which?' website and it fared not too bad. It wasn't in one of their 'Best Buys' but then none of them were in my catalogue! I really hope I have chosen well or else it's gonna be a dear lesson! Have any of you had any experiences with this model of Beko?

I love my washing machine, mainly because it has a huge drum. Its a Dyson and its not being made anymore. I am thinking of switching to a washer dryer in the next couple of weeks and the amount of friends that want my washing machine is ludicrous. It looks s good I dont really want to part with it but need the space.

Personally, i would never buy a washer/dryer. If you are using the washer, you can't use the dryer, and if you are using the dryer, you can't use the washer. No good if you have a family and do a lot of washing/drying. I would advise to buy a washer that does the absolute basics, i.e. a quick wash, a whites wash, a coloured wash and rinse & spin. Avoid going for one with loads and loads of options that you don't need, the more complex - the more it will cost should it need a repair. Bosch are definitely a good make. My washer is an LG intellowasher DD and it is excellent, excellent, excellent. Not cheap but the best washer I have ever had.
