ceanothus pruning

Could someone please advise me, when is the best time to prune Ceanothus, and how hard can it be pruned.

Prune after they have flowered, usually early June. Prune to shape, dont cut back too hard into really old wood.

Thanks, Landsaper, I'll have to wait until next year then.
This can depend on which variety you have and its flowering period. If it is an Autumn flowering one like "Autumn Blue" then it is best pruned early spring to flower on new summer growth.

Generally they dont require pruning other than to tidy them and shape them and to remove any dead wood.
