Hi all, i just wanted to know other peoples opinions on something, me and my partner were applying for a mortgage but were declined for a 100% mortgage, we now have to save up approx 10,000 for a 5% deposit, i suggested to my partner that i get a part time job in addition to my full time work, there are vacancies in my local Toby Carvery for bar work/waitressing, when i told him i might apply he completey went the other way with me, i dont know if it is because i would be working behind the bar and making chit chat to other men (and women) but i cant think why he would go like this, is he jelous or something, any opinions appreciated! thanks

also, how can i make him see that i am doing this for the both of us and not to be so mad with me
Maybe he's worried that he'll have to jeopardise how much time he spends with you? If you're working all hours to save for the deposit, he may be worried that he'll never see you; and when he does, you'll obviously be exhausted and may be irritable (I know I would be!). It's important that couples spend good quality time together, but you should gently explain that you'll have all the time in the world together when you have your lovely new home!

hi darlingnc i think it is becourse you will be around other men a lot of the time, why not try and get a job in say cleaning, im sure he'll be happyer wiyh that. and if you do try not to talk about any male workers when you talk about work. good luck
or tell him to get a bloody grip!! So what if you talk to other men? You're a grown up you can talk to whoever you like!
Sounds like a bit of an insecure kn&b to me lol

i might take that approach mycats, see what happens
lol
thanks for your replys guys x
you know you may not want to hear this or see this but I went through a couple of relationships where things like that happened. I found that sometimes men are jealous and insecure because of their own actions. if someone is doing wrong they assume that the other partner will as well and that causes lots of jealous and insecure brhavior.

good luck and I hope its good news in yur case mine was the bad news he was cheating on me...

He doesnt want you to have to work, is frustrated that you couldnt get the mortgage.

Is it because of him that you cant get 100%? (default or ccj etc)
Question Author
earsugar,
yes it is because of a ccj we cant get 100% mortgage,
and to the post above you, i know what your saying and you dont know how right you might be...
a relationship with no trust is not a good foundation for the future... I wasted 10 years and now have broken hearted children.. good luck.
