I am getting my Cavalier King Charles puppy on the 30th December and cant wait, the breeder is very highly reccomended through my pets vet and by my aunty who is a breeder but i would love to no if they are as good as people say they are with children? If anyone has had one with kids please help. thanks
Lovely, Lovely dogs, very nice tempraments.
They are very good with children, but with all dogs, its down to the training. Please, Please take him/her to puppy classes, it will do them the world of good.
I worked with a breeder of these dogs for 10 years and I can honestly say not one of them showed any malice or agression to a human or another dog.
I would add that you must allow the puppy 'time out' from the kids, and give him somewhere of his own to get away from them. Don't let them interefere with him while he is eating and don't let them tire him out by making him play when he needs to sleep. Brought up together they will be the best of friends, but make sure their friends understand when they visit that he is a live animal not just a toy to pull about.
Make sure you are made fully aware of the heart conditions in the breed, and take out insurance to be on the safe side.
We have a 11 month old cav.He.s very loving and he adores my 3 boys(12 11 and 9) He loves being on your lap for snuggles. We done a 10 week obedience course (38) and worth every penny!! very highly recommend! Teach your kids to respect the pup, and not to pester him, especially when he.s feeding! ENJOY!!!
My mum used to breed these dogs, the last one she had (a Ruby called Bubbles) was the soppiest dog I ever met,she loved my daughters playing with her when they were very young and not once did she ever try to bite one of them.
