Web Cam

We are trying to install a web cam from Web Cams4U 5.2mp. but when we put cd in and click Install, a message comes up saying"The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify compatibility with WindowsXP" Also the camera has 1 lead from it that branches into 2 We know 1 goes in USB but where does other go? We are novices at this so please any answer you give make as simple as possible. (We don,t know all the jargon).

the other lead is most likely to go into your microphone jack on your pc. i dont understand the other part but i will try to get the answer soon. good luck

You need to install a driver to make your webcam work. A driver is a piece of software that lets Windows know how to communicate with that particular make and model of webcam. What's your make and model?

The installation CD contains the drivers for your webcam. The warning just means that the software hasn't been properly certified by Microsoft. It should be OK to ignore this warning so go ahead and install the driver. If you don't then your webcam won't work.

The Webcams4U website contains instructions and downloads for various webcams.

As for the cable beachhut101 is probably correct. There should be a flat rectangular USB plug, the other is probably a microphone jack plug that fits into the microphone socket of your PC (usuall coloured pink).

Ithink you are both right. I have just had a look and there is a pink jack point. Thank you very much. My son is coming to have a look tomorrow so i will show him your answers.

All it says on box and instruction book is Pc Camera Digital Zone. and we bought it from Web Cams 4U. i can't find any model no or anything else.
