We are about to tile our kitchen floor, my husband has done lots of tiling in the past and that is not a problem. But he has never used under floor heating. I was wondering if any one has any tips and advice regarding this? ie what make is best?, anything to be careful of etc
I take it you are using an electric mesh heating (not water in pipes). If so, best to use 200W per square metre.
Then you need a flexible adhesive and corresponding flexible grout because the larger range of temperatures the floor is subjected to. The tiling adhesive manufacturers make special products for sticking tiles for UFH.
also you have to leave it (i think for 2 weeks) before putting the underfloor heating on to allow the adhesive and grout to have completly gone off. also test the underfloor heating before laying your tiles. Bit of a problem if it doesn't work after laying your tiles! the single wire underfloor heating is apparently better than the mesh sheets.
