Renew O-rings on mixer tap

I have two sink units, one by Hartington, one by Leisure. Each of their mixer taps is 'weeping' at the base and requires new O-rings. I am unable to remove the taps; there are no retaining screws, and diy manual advice to "turn the spout to line up with the tap body and pull upwards sharply" has produced no effect except to increase leak rate and induce hernia!

do they have service valves? if so close the water supply off and disconnect the pipework/flexi leads and undo the whole tap, but its a devil of a job to get the whole mixer out so much so that you might consider lifting the sink off. i can get my flexi leads off eventually and get a 12mm socket on the mixer retaining nuts but it is not easy

The pipework appears to be brazed to the tap pipe ends, and does not want to move, so lifting the sink will be a major task in itself. I think maybe new sink units are the answer. If I employ a plumber to fit new O-rings alone the cost will be totally uneconomical. Was hoping for a way to lift the mixer taps a la diy manual; presume it can be done, otherwise why describe the process? It beats me!

Hi there. The turnable spout can be lifted upwards. There is a small grub screw at the rear of the base unit which aligns with a groove in the spout.


The problem will be getting suitable "o" rings.

I checked initially for grub screws/lock devices but there are none anywhere visible below the base of the spout, on the base unit. Do you mean under the sink?

As I stated earlier, my diy manual gives the same advice as you; but neither I nor any of my 3 body-buiding sons can shift the spouts!
