emergency lights

why do the emergency lights in my car start to go on and off of their own accord, even when the engine has been switched off. Could there be a mechanical fault. It is a hired car.

yes,there is a fault,take it back and tell them.

when you say emergency lights I presume you mean the hazard lights.

some car's alarms will 'self arm' if the car is left for a short period with the alarm switched off, it could be this or the alarm beign triggered in silent mode. (why do they make cars with silent alarms???)...

...or as Norms post, a fault.
any way your hire company should be able o sort you out
