my mother has recently passed away in a nursing home .she has avery loving family but a poor family her stay at the home was funded by the town as mum had no funds her self . she worked all her life as she was widowed at the age of 48 and served in the army .is there any monies or death grant she may be entitled to to cover funral costs. she was in recept of income support.

You could give this organisation a go. I'm not sure whether your mum would have needed to contact them herself, but they helped my mum (who was in the wrens) a few years ago in times of financial dire straits. It wasn't a great deal of money, but it certainly helped. You might need some sort of proof, ie army papers, dates etc, but see how it goes...
