Film Help Please

I have asked this question elsewhere to no avail.
In the 1980's I watched a film which I thought was really good. It was a kind of modern western about 2 guys on the run from the law. They pick up a mouthy female en-route I think they have arguments about taking her along. At the very end they cross the border into Mexico ahead of the police but their car is hit by a train on the level crossing and bursts into flames.
It is driving me mad does anybody know what it is?

I agree it could be that, and would have told you earlier but for problems with this site.

If you have digital, check out the title sequence for "the fall guy" on Five US, as it has the car/train scene in it.
