I will shortly need to renew my car insurance and someone suggested I should ask for a "permanent protected no claims discount". Is this a wind up or is there such an option?. All advice gratefully recieved

usually after 4 or 5 yrs without a claim, you can ask for your no claims bonus to be protected, which you have to pay extra for, every year, this can carry on forever, and you wont lose your bonus even if you have a accident.
protect them its not much extra comapared to what it would cost you to build them back up if lost.
i protected my no claims this year and it cost 77.00 quid. not bad when you consider what the extra cost in your policy next year would be if you make a claim.
