what is the total number of book titles published both fiction and non fiction? , and how do publishers calculate how may to print especially for rare obscure subjects with very limited esoteric appeal?

They estimate the number to print from experience of similar titles. If they don't print enough then they reprint. If they print too many the books end up being sold by 'remainders' companies.
