I can;t work out what is happening to my computer First it was running slow did the usual things emptied temp internet files and cookies Then I could not close progs down, open files in office I discover 32,000 files with no KBs under documents & settings/local service/ local settings/temp I removed these and things improved this morning I have tried to do some work in Excel and just thought I would check again and there are 13,000 of the *** files again all created in ten minutes I have virus checked with a paid for copy of AVG which is up dated daily I have tried to update my windows XP from Microsoft but this won't happen.

So what are you doing?
I can't think of a virus that works by creating temp files

create a text file in c:\
copy the following (all one line ..... include the "s)

del /Q /S "c:\documents & settings/<yourID>\local settings/temp\*.*"

call the file deltmp.bat
create a shortcut in your start | startup folder
everytime you startup ... your temp files will be cleared

Thanks I have consulted my computer shop and they think I have been infected by a malicious file and recommended that I download AVG free trial Malware which I did and fingers crossed I think it has worked

Just to let you know Ace the AVGmalware did the trick so I have now upgraded to AVG Intyernet security
