Does anyone know for certain, in which year was the 'F' word first heard in a mainstream movie, and in which film?

Two films in 1967 used the f word. Ulysses and I'll Never Forget Whats'isname. They are supposedly the first.
I heard a story about an old silent film (widely distributed) where two guys were vying for the affections of a girl and little twee captions like 'frankly sir, I would rather share my sleeping bag with a skunk' were used when they were shouting at each other, but in reality they were just shouting swear words at each other, only problem is lots of deaf people who could lip read wrote in complaining about the dreadful language in the film. So although the f word was never actually 'heard', it was used, so I think this qualifies it. I am sorry but I cant remember the name of the film. regards. Myron.
