tax credits

I am working full time in retail and am on minimum wage. My friend says because my pay is so low I can claim tax credits.

I live with my partner ( were not married), no kids and we have just bought a small unit together. Can somebody please tell me how much in tax credits I should recieve? And also does it make a difference I am living with someone, he earns 16000 a year 1400 of that is london waiting.
