Hi, just a couple of questions about digital TV.

1. When a new channel is launched do I have to retune my box to pick it up or will it happen automatically?

2. I have a DVD player with built in freeview and my daughter has a freeview box in her room. They actually receive different channels. Why is this? For example I get Sky 3 which she doesnt and she gets Smile which I dont.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Some freeview boxes will automatically update I have had one of these. Others on the otherhand need to be retuned quite often.

Over the last couple of months I have had to retune one of mine nearly every week because so many changes have been made.
On point number 2.

Are you sharing the same aerial ?

If you ARE you should ge the same channels.

If you are NOT (maybe one of you, or both of you, are using an indoor aerial) then the quality of the aerial will denote how many channels you pick up.

You should try to get a good "digital ready" roof aerial.

You can also get a device that allows you to have more than one cable coming from the aerial.

I have a device fitted up on my roof (near the aerial) that splits it into 4 cables. The 4 cables then go into 4 different rooms.

4 aerial cables from the one aerial.

Thank you both.

I have tried re-tuning. I seem to pick up and lose different channels depending on the time of day. I think I'll leave it alone for now until digital rolls out in this area. I can get Price-drop so i'm happy.
Thanks again
