Squeaky shoe

My friend has had her shoes mended and one squeaks. Any ideas what to do to stop it squeaking, apart from not wearing it? (she hasnt tried oil yet!)

One of my shoes squeaked when i put it on once. Turns out i squished a mouse to death as i shoved my size 6 on its head.

MThat's not a good idea Red, my shoes squeak when I stand on my cat's tails. Try getting a mousetrap instead.

Which bit squeaks, the heel or the sole? What kind of shoes are they?

she thinks it is the heel but she hasnt had any contact with cats or mice, although the shoes are size 6!

If shoes squeak when they are new it is a fault in the manufacturing process, air has probably been trapped between a badly glued layer of the sole. Most reputable shoe outlets would exchange them (or some may refund but not me) and if a shoe aqueaks after a repair, it may be a similar problem if re-soled, but sometimes when the shoe is worked on the last it distorts ot and can cause damage to the built fabric of the upper and the base.
