Just heard on the news that 4 adults drowned whilst trying to save their children from the high surf. Why is the beach still open when the Portugese authorities are aware that this area is dangerous at this time of year. Apparently, there are no lifeguards patrolling the area from the end of September. Are there no warning signs to stop people going there.

This is another senseless tragedy.

how can you close beaches?

and why cant parents make judgements any more as to what is safe and not safe for children.

2 of the adults were the parents of the children in trouble. 2 others were member of the public on the beach.
actually 2 were the parents and one the mother of the other family they went with. Lived only yards away from the family, how devastated is that street gonna be!!

Last year (I think) there was the case where the guy tried to save his dog, got into difficulties and 3 police officers (trying to save him) as well as the owner drowned whilst the dog swam to safety.
and people wonder why the those community officers werent allowed to jump in after that little boy the other week.

Its a sad tragedy.
