Do you like getting presents?

Whenever an occasion is coming up (birthday/christmas etc.) I always feel guilty because my girlfriend always asks what I want, which is usually nothing, and I can't get excited about presents at all. What about yourself?

I Love getting presents, and i always make sure hubby knows what i want for christmas/birthdays etc.
dont like surprises, except maybe if he surprises me with choccies, flowers or so forth, not for special occassions, but just out of the blue for no other reason that he loves me. i think thats important, i think the lady should do that sometimes too.,

I love getting a certain type of present like jewellery or flowers or perfume that kind of thing. Not toasters or deep fat fryers or irons, which my fiance thinks is quite ok to give you for your xmas :(((( I got the toaster last year so it's a toss up between the others for this year.

I love to give presents, I put a tremendous amount of thought and time into buying something that is just right, I am happy to recieve a gift but I dont really want for anything

Personally I love presents and surprises but it's a bit tricky if you don't actually like whatever it is - especially if giver is looking at you in excited anticipation! Then if you say you like it but don't really, you risk getting even more stuff you don't like! Probably worth having a few ideas up your sleeve that you could suggest e.g. DVD, CDs, specialist lagers/wine/spirit. then it looks as though you're interested and excited. Otherwise it looks like you're uninterested and some women (and I speak from personal experience!) do take this as a personal affront and think it's them you're not interested in, not the idea of a present!

To be honest this is where the Scot in me comes to the fore ... I don't like getting things for the sake of it.

To be honest, I am with sense4all on this. But that's easier if you've been with someone a long time and can each accept that just 'cos you don't really want anything it doesn't mean you don't like them!! Mine's not so much from not wanting to spend the money as not knowing where to put the stuff!! Just a waste of space as well as money!

I prefer giving presents than receiving them. I know that sounds really sickly but it's true. Maybe it's some sub conscious desire for people to like me. :)
