A rouge builder has recently stolen some money from me. The only contact details i have are a mobile number. Is there anyway to find out what address this number is registered to?

They can, under certain circumstances trace the phone via a "triangulation" process, or if it is registered, then details can easily be traced after a few data protection forms have be filled out.
However, if it is not theft (dishonestly appropriates property (money) from another wiith the itention of permeantly depriving that person of it) and more a civil debt, the police can not do anything.
Depending on how much he has taken, maybe consider a private investigator.

Unfortunately the police arent being overly helpful as I dont actually have any paper proof that I handed over any money. Very stupid of me I know, but really didnt have any reason to doubt this guy.
I have since found out that hes gone bankrupt I found out from the Halifax that hes house was repossessed and sold to cover costs.
Bewlay Bros thanks for your reply and I think your right, this is more of a civil debt Im hoping the guy had good intentions, but just fell on hard times. as we all do. I think Ill pursue the civil route and maybe try the small claims court.
Thanks everyone, your comments are much appreciated.
