last week the ministry of defence managed to make a tank appear invisible.

I think it was done by the Tooth Fairy waving her magic wand & Santa's elves sprinkling the tracks with moondust:)
I don't know about the British Army doing this but certainly some scientists are working on invisibility.

They do it by wearing a special outfit with thousands of tiny cameras/monitors which show what is behind the person, making them look (kind of) invisble.

I never seen it in action so don't know how believable it is.

well appaerently the army have confirmed making a tank disappear 3 days ago???
I think they have been working on this for years possibly as long ago as the 2nd World War........don't quite know why I think this but probably something I read somewhere.
I think they were doing it with ships.....
SQ's the nearest to it. I believe cameras & projectors beam images of landscape onto a specially-adapted object which's coated with silicone to enhance the reflective qualities - in this case, a tank. This means that people only see what's behind it, making the tank itself look invisible. I'm sure you'd know it was there though - by the noise it'd kick up as it was approaching!!
It works the same as Predator. Big waste of money if you ask me though!
Excuse me for being dumb, but is this a wind up?
No.
No not at all. Scientists have been working on this for years.
Very true - hoping to have it perfected by 2012, is it?
The RAF discovered how to 'see' the American Stealth bomber which was meant to be invisible to R.A.D.A.R (the Yanks denied this off course). Perhaps our boffins have refined this technology to our advantage, although I havn't heard anything about this.
Do you have a link leg end?
from the way you have explained it, i can see how it would be possible to do this.

on the opposite side to the one you would be looking at would be a camera and the screens on the side your looking at would be portraying a life size image of what the camera is pointed at...... thus making the tank appear invisible?
The generic name for the technology is stealth. Been around years - stealth fighter planes and stealth bombers are very common. Design and coatings make them invisible to radar because they don't bounce back an image. Nothing to do with whether they are visible to the human eye or heard by the human ear (when close enough).
Question Author
i think theyre using it on ab too

lol
Question Author
no i heard on radio here in the reef.
not to do with radar.

it was a tank.
made invisible to the human eye.

and apparently confirmed by army
this is basically what camouflage is all about, I suppose. I doubt they've made anything truly invisible unless they've come up with a plate glass tank, but they did employ magicians during the war for tips on hiding things and I believe some of these were successful, eg in fooling Germans about where the D Day invasions were to be staged.
I don't think stealth bombers are completely invisible to radar detection. They have minimised the size of the signal that bounces off by not having any straight lines on them but they still give off heat which is how our sensors can pick them up. The invisible tanks do work how others have said in using camera and lcd devices.
If they keep decreasing the numbers in the triforces then they will certainly be invisible !
Question Author
but as its the triforces mamma theres always 2 spare left lol
