I saw a watch advertised in the paper over the weekend which self adjusts for 'daylight saving time'. Is this another Americanism we have adopted and I missed it? My hubby, used this phrase last week (along with terrible US accent).

I read somewhere that soon they might put our clocks forward 2 hrs so we get more daylight time to enjoy a summers evening

I think that the UK introduced 'Double Summer Time' during WW2 and discontinued it towards the end of the war.

lost it.
as i said since 2nd world war usa had dst and changed the time.
so now 60 years later we dont really know what time it is there
