Wanted, good Spam filter

Can anyone recommend a good Spam filter that removes spam from your pop3 mail server rather than interacting with Outlook. I'm using Devicode POP3 Sweeper at the moment but it misses many spam emails and is difficult to configure.

Generally speaking .... the one provided by your pop3 e-mail provider is pretty good ;-)do you actually need more?

I work with three current addresses .... my address ... only given to friends and family

my "online address" used for AB and other sites I visit regularly or expect to go back to

my spam address .... used for everything else ... when the spam gets too bad I throw it away and get another.

I don't have much problem with spam!

Do you run your own email server?

If your ISP does this sort of thing, then it's up to them.

If you do have enough control to add extra things, then as a basic solution, try SpamAssassin with procmail.

A very good solution would be to use IronPorts, but this costs much $$$ (my email hosts use these).

Suggested solution:
- Get a gmail account (great spam filtering)
- Set up serverside to forward all your mail to your gmail address
- Set gmail to send all mail in its inbox to either another email address of yours (if you have your own domain, for example), or just get your gmail with Outlook (both POP3 and IMAP supported). Ten set Gmail to archive all sent mail.

Spam gets filtered through Gmail, so check your spam folder in gmail periodically for false positives. As a bonus, you get an automatic backup of all your mail.

Thanks for answers gentlemen but my requirement is a little complex. I have 6 domains (some with auto responders) and 12 email addresses. I change these as they get spammed even though I'm very careful who I give the address to. Some are web based ie Hotmail. It's getting a nightmare. Only just closed my Compuserve one (after 16 years). I'm using Helexis Mail Redirect (http://www.helexis.com/products/mail_managemen t/) to send three to the same address but will look at "Mail Washer" as it looks quite good.

Start using Gmail instead of Hotmail. A million times better, especially with regard to spam filtering.
