MOT failure

If my car fails its MOT, do i have to declare it off the road if the necessary repairs will take about another 3 weeks to be carried out?
I have a crack in my passenger wing and although i have a replacement wing, the person meant to be fitting it has let me down (gone on holiday for a week) and my MOT is due on Monday, he thinks it will fail it because of the crack.

If it's taxed, it doesn't need to be declared off road.

If it isn't taxed - it does.

what sort of crack is it,if it has sharp edges,then it will fail,your best bet is to make it not sharp and cover it over with heavy duty tape and it should pass.

Apparently the headlight on the passenger side is out of alignment too, (did not know this when i posted question or i would have included that too!!), would fail it even if i did tape up the crack?

a jagged edge or sharp projection that is blunted/covered by heavy duty tape should be sufficient to pass the mot as after all it only has to meet the minimum required criteria.

basically they are saying that if it was to come in contact with a person it could cause injury.
