Bio diesel

I'm thinking of running my car on vegitable oil, i have been told that if i mix some white spirits in with it i can put it straight in my tank and drive off.

is this true if not does anyone know what i will need to do to use it? cheers

A quick look at these sites and it doesn't look at all easy (or safe). There's also a question of fuel tax (duty) if you start making your own and HM customs catch you it'll be expensive.

I've got a K reg Citroen ZX and have tried about a 25% vegetable oil 75% diesel mix and it runs fine - just smells a bit like a chip shop. The guy who runs our Citroen garage uses a lot higher percentage in some of his older cars and has no problems. He told us to gradually increase the ratio to 50:50. We also have a 51 plate C5 but would definitely not try it in that.
