Thanks very much ddon, 28D was rather an obscure clue, even for AZED, I'm not 100% sure about 1D, I have potshot and for 22A thrum, but cant fully justify these with the given clues. Any advice would be welcome.

I thought POTSHOT was

POTS (a lot) and HOT for animated (it's one of the definitions in Chambers)

THRUM has another meaning, the end (terminal) of a weaver's thread, and, in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Bottom is a weaver.

Thankyou both for your help, I came about potshot by the thinking that sitter = sitting target but I think homeresque's theory is far more logical.
I v'e just found thrum in the Bradford's under "end" The only other reference I found for it was to strum a guitar, and from the dim and distant days of reading Shakespeare, I could not recall Bottom ever having one of these!
