Supermarket Shopping - Save the Planet !

What are your thoughts on this?: Just had this tip sent from the U.S:
Supermarkets are cutting down on plastic bags, and asking us to buy their 'proper bags' made of canvas or toughened plastic so they can be re-used. The idea is to phase out supermarket plastic bags and it seems to be working.
Individual items however are still highly over packaged so try not to take this over-packaging home. If you have time, when you get back to your car, with a little pair of scissors, unwrap all your over packaged products, all that plastic, cardboard and cellophane, and put it all back in the supermarket trolley.
This idea is spreading throughout the U S and Europe and it seems to be working. It might be difficult, especially if you have a child in tow or its raining, but it has to be worth the effort even if you have to leave it in the car until your next journey to the supermarket, and dump it all then.
Imagine how fed up the supermarkets will be, when they see trolleys full of unwanted packaging and they have to clear it all themselves. It should make supermarkets think twice and get onto their suppliers and there is less waste in our bins at home.

I would break out my pen knife and the nifty little scissors and begin to cut up all the excess packaging right there at the tills! And dare ANYONE complain, I would publicly invite, encourage, cajole and hopefully inspire everyone else there to do the very same thing!
And in the meantime, you might just be able to get the media to pop over to get a few metres of film footage for the evening news!
Much more powerful statement!
But I DO like it! Verrrry much!

If you look at the basic ranges that the supermarkets do , the packaging is limited and very basic, there is absolutely no need for boxes for cornflakes when they can be sold in there bags . etc etc etc come on supermarkets you have the power to demand this on behalf of your customers , thus reducing the cost's as well... after all every little helps ......
