condensation

after having double glazing fitted we are having trouble with condensation on walls[ black marks on bottom of wallpaper] ]..been told to keep windows open a little..what benefit DG.then!!! has anyone experience of this & any suggestions re help?

double glazing is known for adding to condensation problems.
you have to have a mixture of ventilation and some heat, to prevent condensation.
the new window units will have trickle vents, you should use these for ventilation if its too cold to open the windows.

Ask the people that put it in why they didn't put "Trickle vents" in them or at least recommend them, they may be able to fit them now, they are well worth having, and in my opinion should be part of all double glazing units

you have to eliminate the damp atmosphere with heat and ventilation, you can buy moisture absorbing crystals for areas that are particularly bad

Hi wrayperson
If at all possible, try to open your windows for a short time every day. A house needs to breath and if the windows are slightly open, then the damp ought to disappear a little.

i use a dehumidifier (about �60) you can get them with various controls to suit your situation, this stop condensation and their not heavy power uses
as the others have said trickle vents maybe ok but not if your cooking a lot or doing other chores that produce condensation
mine is from delonghi -model-aridry light

I have a dehu too - a delongi one from John Lewis. I got it to assist with drying clothes but they're great!

My nan has just had new double glazing and has the trickle vents and she doesn't get condensation. Do you have the trickle vents?
